

Dolores Pitruzzello, 85, passed peacefully under the care of Hospice on Wednesday, March 8, 2017 surrounded by her family. She bravely fought a 12-year battle with Alzheimer’s Disease under the care of St. Mark Village in Palm Harbor. Born Dolores Ann Ferrisi in New York City in 1931, She married Sam Pitruzzello in 1951 and raised four sons. In 1960, she and her family moved to southeast Florida, settling in Hallandale, Hollywood and Miramar at various times. In 1978 the family moved to Clearwater. An accomplished artist, she was involved with the Creative Artist Guild of Dunedin, chairing the organization for five years. She and her husband were longtime members of St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church where she served as a Eucharistic Minister and member of the Parish Council. Earlier in life, she owned an art store in Pembroke Pines, Florida, and worked as a library assistant at what was then Chaminade High School in Hollywood. She is predeceased by her husband Sebastian R. (Sam) Pitruzzello. She leaves four sons: Steve, Pete, David and Richard; as well as two daughters-in-law, Lori and Jennifer and three grandchildren; Joshua, Erin Miller, and Alyssa. A memorial service will be held at Sylvan Abbey Funeral Home, 2853 Sunset Point Road, Clearwater on Monday, March 27, 2017 at 10 AM, with interment to follow at Sylvan Abbey Memorial Park.
