Donald G Murphy

Donald G. Murphy, 82 Don Murphy passed away in the presence of family on September 9, 2014. A devoted husband, beloved father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, Don was born in Sedan, Kansas on October 16, 1931 and was a long-time resident of Muskogee, OK and Palm Harbor, FL. He is survived by his wife Marilynn Murphy, sons Thomas Murphy and Tim Murphy, daughters Teresa Ball and Tamra Sommers, 5 granddaughters, 2 grandsons, and 2 great-granddaughters. Don served his country honorably in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War, then attended Northeastern State University in Tahlequah, OK on the G.I. Bill. He graduated in 1958 with a degree in Business Administration and worked for the next 53 years in the Accounting field, retiring in 2011 from Accento Crafts in Tarpon Springs, FL. Don was a long-time member of Calvary Baptist Church in Clearwater, FL and throughout his lifetime he enjoyed aviation, football, and home and family. Don lived his life guided by Christian principles – faith in God, love of family, and love of his country. The Family will receive friends on Sunday, September 14, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. at Sylvan Abbey Funeral Home, in Clearwater, FL followed by a celebration service at 3:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the World Missions Ministry at Calvary Baptist Church, 110 N.
