Doris Camfield passed away Friday evening, March 23rd, 2018, surrounded by her four children. She was born Dorothy Gould in Hartford Connecticut in 1926, lived much of her young life in New York, and as a young military wife lived in various states, as well as stints in Europe. She moved with her family to Dunedin, Florida in 1965.
She worked at Honeywell for 32 years, and was active in her church, United Methodist of Dunedin for much of her life. She also volunteered for Meals on Wheels, and Spanish Gardens, a nursing home where her own mother was a resident. She was openly curious about life and enjoyed traveling and experiencing new things. She took her children to the Grand Canyon and Hollywood on summer vacations when they were younger. She also traveled widely in her early retirement, realizing her life’s dream to go to Australia and New Zealand. She was a loving mother to her four children, and a doting grandmother to her numerous grandchildren in Maryland, thus spending a good part of each year there. She will be greatly missed by her family.
She is survived by her adult children, Jackie Metzler of Severn, Maryland; Kathy Henry of New Port Richey, Florida, Bruce Camfield and Donald Camfield, both of Largo, Florida.
Her service will be held at Sylvan Abbey graveside at 12 p.m. on Thursday, March 29, 2018. Messages, memories or prayers may be left at www. Sylvanabbey.com. The family requests in lieu of flowers to make a donation to the Alzheimer’s Foundation; either online at alzfdn.org or mail a check to the:
