Edward Hughes, a devoted husband, father, and lifelong learner, passed away peacefully on February 12, 2026, surrounded by the family he cherished above all else.
A Journey of Determination
Born on October 4, 1946, to Edward Hughes and Hanna Farah, Ed’s story was one of resilience and ambition. Arriving from Cuba at an early age, he embraced the opportunities of his new home with a tireless work ethic. He understood early on that education was the foundation for the future he wanted to build.
While working in a hospital laboratory, Ed balanced the demands of his career with his studies, eventually earning his Master’s degree—a proud milestone that reflected his grit and his belief in the power of self-improvement.
The Heart of the Home
While Ed was a professional by trade, he was a family man by heart. He leaves behind a legacy of love in his beautiful wife, their five children, and seven grandchildren, all of whom were the true North of his life.
When he wasn’t pursuing the "thrill of the hunt," Ed was most content where the land met the water. It didn't matter if it was lake side or beach front, he loved the water. He was a man of vibrant, simple pleasures:
The Water’s Edge: Ed was never happier than when he was by the lake, soaking up the sun and enjoying the peace that only being near the water could bring.
The Chef: He was known for "cooking up a storm," filling the home with incredible aromas and even better flavors.
The Music: His kitchen and lakeside afternoons were never silent, always accompanied by his favorite "hits" playlist.
A Legacy of Hard Work and Joy
Ed taught those around him that while hard work is the engine of life, family and nature are its soul. He will be remembered for his sharp mind, his provider’s spirit, and his ability to find the perfect rhythm in a song and a sunny afternoon.
"To live in hearts we leave behind is not to die."
