

Born on June 14, 1940, in Portsmouth, Ohio, Ellen was the beloved daughter of the late Sarah (née Marting) and Beverly Horr. Her life was one marked by grace, strength, and service to others.
In 2000, Ellen relocated to Florida from Charlotte, North Carolina, embracing a new chapter filled with sunshine, community, and the wonderful joys of life. She had a remarkable career as an Executive Assistant with the New York Yankees, a role that reflected her sharp mind, professionalism, and love of sports.
Ellen loved relaxing in the pool, reading on her sun porch, watching tennis on TV, attending musicals and live theater, walking along the beach, taking road trips all over the country, and spending cherished time with her family and friends. She lived with enthusiasm and happiness.
Her deep and abiding faith was a cornerstone of her life, inspiring her generous spirit and dedication to serving others. A devoted member of Northwood Presbyterian Church, Ellen served as a church elder, session clerk, Stephen minister, and was an honorary life member of Presbyterian Women. She also enjoyed playing in the handbell choir and was a charter member of the church’s Memorial Garden.
Ellen is lovingly remembered by her sons, Michael (Jacqueline) Stoup and Stephen (Lea) Stoup; her grandchildren, Meghan Stoup, Stephanie Stoup, Ryan Stoup, Andrew Stoup, Nathan D’Angelo, and Jacob D’Angelo; and her siblings, David (Beverly) Horr, Alice (Steve) Barnett, and Molly (Bill) Tee. She will also be greatly missed by extended family members and friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents and siblings: John Horr, William Horr, Sarah Johnson, Tim Rardin, and Jerry Rardin.
A celebration of Ellen’s life will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, November 8, 2025, at Northwood Presbyterian Church, 2875 State Road 580, Clearwater, Florida 33761. She will be laid to rest in the church’s Memorial Garden.
In lieu of flowers, Ellen’s wish was for donations to Presbyterian Women, c/o Northwood Presbyterian Church, 2875 State Road 580, Clearwater, Florida 33761. This is an organization she was deeply involved in and held close to her heart.
Ellen’s life was a beautiful testament to faith, love, and fearless independence. She will be dearly missed and forever cherished.
