Frank R. Hoover, age 91, a resident of Top of The World, Clearwater, FL passed away on August 27, 2017. He was born to Francis Chiappa and Philomena Maselli in Morristown, NJ on November 5, 1925. He was adopted by his step-father, Archie B. Hoover, and graduated from North High School in Binghamton, NY. He enlisted in the Navy in 1943 and later volunteer and joined F.M.F. Marines First SP Division where he served until the end of WWII. He was a life member of the American Legion. After the war he attended Syracuse University and Harper College. He started his career at Links Aviation in Binghamton, NY where he became head of Time-Study. A natural salesman he went on to work for the Electrolux Corporation where he won many national sales awards. He moved to Schenectady, NY in 1960 to become the branch manager where he remained for over 15 years. He went on to open his own business, Mr. Hoover’s Vacs, until he retired. He moved to Clearwater, FL in the 1980s where he looked after his mother, Philomena Hurley, until her death in 2004. He was a 32nd Degree Master Mason, a Shriner Egypt of Tampa, FL, a member of the Eagles of Largo, FL, and a Distinguished Past President of Kiwanis of Schenectady, NY. He had one brother, Joseph Chiappa, of Boonton ,NJ who predeceased him. He is survived by his three children, Terri (Bruce) Levin of The Villages, FL, Frank (Nancy) Hoover of Spokane, WA, and George (Gladys Araujo) Hoover of Miami Beach, FL. He is also survived by eight grandchildren, one great grandchild, and close friends Cusick Clow of Clearwater, FL and Knoxville, TN and Ginny Toff of Clearwater, FL. He loved America and particularly liked singing God Bless America, especially if there was an audience. A voracious reader he also enjoyed golf, fishing, poker, crossword puzzles, playing the Lotto, and drawing cartoons. Visitation will take place at A Light of Christ Catholic Church at 10:00 am on Saturday, September 30, 2017 followed by a Mass in celebration of his life at 11:00 am. Internment immediately following at Sylvan Abbey Memorial Park at 2860 Sunset Point Road, Clearwater, FL.
