George E De La Torre

George Edward De la Torre George Edward De la Torre, age 63, passed away on Wednesday, January 14, 2015. He was born on May 25, 1951 in Habana, Cuba. He was a longtime resident of St. Petersburg, Florida. George was preceded in death by his mother Noris Alvarez De la Torre. He is survived by his father and son, Jorge E. De la Torre and Chaz E. De la Torre, loving brother and sister, Charles R. De la Torre and Noris De la Torre Babb, brother-in-law Steven Babb, sister-in-law Lynn B. De la Torre, nephew, David Babb nieces, Michelle Garcia, Chelsea Babb, and Stefanie Babb and other loving relatives. George graduated as an honor student from St. Petersburg High School in 1969 where he lettered in various sports. He went on to the University of Florida and graduated in 1973 with a bachelor’s degree in Building Construction. Following University he worked in various locations throughout the United States and the Caribbean. He enjoyed athletics especially running and yoga. He had a very kind heart and quick wit and will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him. A memorial mass will be held at Blessed Sacrament Church, 11501 66th Avenue, Seminole, FL 33772 on Monday, January 19, 2015 9:15 am. An outdoor burial service will follow at 11:30 at Sylvan Abbey Memorial Park, 2860 Sunset Point Road, Clearwater, FL prior to the burial. The family will be there to greet relatives and friends.
