Born on July 8, 1945, in Salem, Indiana, Bob was the son of the late Doyle and Mary (Borden) Waggoner. Along with his parents, he was also preceded in death by his stepmother, Opal Ruth Moore, and his sister, Eupha Rae Albertson.
Bob is lovingly remembered by his devoted wife of 40 years, Beverly; his stepsister, Elaine Cheatham; and his children: Ellen Huheey (John), Viktor Phoenix (Alexandra), Shelley Johnson (Laureen), Stephen Johnson (Jennifer), and Pam Hitchcock (Bob). He was a proud and caring grandfather to Zachary Huheey, Jacob Curran, Allie Hensley (Brody), Jenna Curran, Isabella Johnson, Shepard Phoenix, and Gabrielle Johnson, and a cherished great-grandfather to Cooper Hensley and Caden Hensley. He also held a special place in his heart for his honorary son, Chuck Curran, and his wife, Pam.
A Vietnam Era Army veteran, Bob carried a deep sense of service throughout his life. He dedicated many years to volunteering alongside his wife in Pinellas County with the Pinellas Park Citizens Police Academy Alumni Association, helping raise funds for charitable causes and supporting the Pinellas Park Police Department. After relocating to Palmetto, he continued his commitment to others through countless hours of service at Family of God United Methodist Church.
Bob found joy in life’s simple pleasures. He was happiest tending to his garden, where he took pride in growing anything that would take root. He had a fondness for fish and chips, but more than anything, he treasured the time spent with his family and friends, who meant the world to him.
A graveside service will be held on Saturday, April 4, 2026, at 1:00 PM at Sylvan Abbey.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks that donations be made in Bob’s memory to Dogs, Inc., Bay Pines VA Health System, or Family of God United Methodist Church.
Bob will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered for his generous spirit, steadfast devotion to family, and the quiet kindness he shared with all who knew him.
