Geraldine Joyce Lucas

Geraldine J Lucas (Ritchey), 87, of Clearwater, Florida, died January 17, 2015 at Northside Hospital in St. Petersburg, Florida. She was preceded in death by her parents, Ruby and Lloyd Ritchey, and her sister, Beverly Williams.

Geraldine (Gerry) was born April 24, 1927 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. She moved to Clearwater with her husband, Robert Lucas, in 1979.

She is survived by her husband Robert (Bob) Lucas; sister, Gloria LeClaire; brother-in-law, Willard Williams; nephews Craig, Jeffrey, and Dean Williams and her niece Donna (LeClaire) Grummer. She is further survived by step children LaDonna Drinkut, Jeannine Oliver, Clark Lucas and step grandchildren.

Geraldine worked at General Motors and GE while in Wisconsin. She loved being even a small part of the Apollo space program at GM. Some of her fondest memories were of her coworkers there, several becoming lifelong friends. She retired from GE in Largo, Florida. She also owned and operated Slimmer-Trimmer-U for 5 years in Safety Harbor, Florida, and enjoyed the many acquaintances she made there.

Other treasured memories were of her parents, Ruby and Lloyd and her two sisters, Beverly and Gloria, growing up on a farm in Wild Rose, WI during the depression. Geraldine loved to travel, see plays and dance with the “Sparkettes” while at GM. She was always planning activities for her niece and nephews and took them (and the rest of the family) on many exciting adventures. She loved the company of her step daughters, LaDonna and Jeannine, step granddaughter, Kristi, and step great grandson, Sammy, when they came to visit. In Geraldine’s later years, one of her favorite activities was working with her sister, Beverly and brother-in-law, Willard, as puppet-maker and seamstress for a puppet ministry at a local church in Safety Harbor. And, she was a devoted wife, caring for her husband, Bob. The two of them enjoyed spending time at the casinos and eating out.

Geraldine, also known as Gerry and Aunt Dean Dean, will be forever loved, remembered and missed by her family and friends.

There will be no service at Geraldine’s request. Arrangements were provided by Sylvan Abbey, Clearwater, Florida.
