

in her sleep on March 29, 2023. She was preceded in her death by her loving parents Louis and Helen
Anderson of Morton Grove, IL, her beloved sister, Helen and brother-in-law; Matthew Dewar of
Glenview, IL, her brother Louis Anderson of Arlington Heights, IL, husband; Frank A. Thomas and her
son; Steven P. Schultz of Oldsmar, Fl.
“Gerry” was born in Chicago, Illinois and graduated from Bridge Elementary School ,Steinmetz
High School, where she was the drum majorette, and Northeastern Illinois University where she
graduated with honors with a BA in English and Teaching. She was loved by all those that knew her
and after her retirement as an AP English teacher at St. Juliana's Elementary School in Chicago,
Illinois, she and her loving husband Frank, a former Lieutenant in the Chicago Police Department,
retired to Florida where they spent their retirement playing golf (she shot a certified “Hole in One”at the
Countryside Executive Golf Course in Clearwater, Fl), sailing, traveling (throughout the US, Europe,
Mexico, and Hawaii), fitness training, and reading. In addition to her busy schedule, Gerry was a past
president of the Yorktown Condo Association and member of the Friends of Oldsmar Library, and the
Safety Harbor Sailing Club
Gerry is survived by her eldest son; Ronald L.Schultz and daughter-in-law; Linda M. Schultz, of
Safety Harbor, FL, Daughter-in-Law; Janice Schultz, Oldsmar, FL, step-children; Lynn Thomas Krupa
and husband Gene Krupa of Sarasota, FL, step-son; Frank A. Thomas, Jr. and wife; Gloria Thomas of Mt.
Pelier, VA, nephew; Matthew B. Dewa r(deceased) and wife; Kathy (Lisa, Melody, Matt Jr., Jackie,
Tiffany) of Glenview, IL, niece; Dawn Allen (Bridgette, Jennifer, Rocky, Amina,Christian) of Oviedo,
Florida, grandchildren; Louis Schultz, Oldsmar, FL, Alex Schultz, Gainesville, FL, step-grandchildren;
Carol and Jeremy Krupa of Sarasota, FL.
Gerry will be remembered as a loving Wife, Mother, Grandmother, Aunt, and a friend to all who
knew her. Her son; Ron, caretaker for the last 4 1/2 years requests, in lieu of flowers, to send a
contribution in his Mother's name to the “Alzheimer's Association.”
