

Helen Sova Maggaro, 86, of Clearwater, Florida passed away April 14, 2025. Born on April 12, 1939 in Passaic, New Jersey to parents Peter and Jean Sova. She grew up alongside her siblings Peter, Eleanor, and Regina. Helen graduated from Clifton High School.
Helen married the love of her life, Anthony Thomas Maggaro on September 25, 1978. They lived in New Jersey for quite some time, but eventually moved to Carson City, Nevada. There, they had their baby girl Julianne. Helen was a devoted mother and wife.
The family did move back to Clifton, New Jersey. Helen was also a very giving person, in New Jersey, she devoted her time by volunteering at the Deborah Hospital Heart and Lung Center. She raised money to help aid and assist patients in need of heart transplants.
In 1982, the family moved to Florida to enjoy the sunshine. Helen would work for the state representative’s office for many years and eventually worked for Macy’s until her retirement. In her free time, Helen enjoyed listening to music spanning all different genres, attending concerts in the area, but most of all, she was a very proud cook- she enjoyed cooking and baking for all her loved ones.
Helen will be remembered for her strong independence, her love of animals, and her gentle and kind spirit.
She is preceded in death by her loving husband Anthony Thomas Maggaro, parents Peter and Jean Sova, brother Peter Sova, sister Eleanor Stoecker, and pet dog Pumpkin.
She is survived by her daughter Julianne Maggaro- Gilbert, Joseph Gilberti husband of Julianne, grandson Alexander Anthony Brown, sister Regina Taworoski, Andrew husband of Regina nephews she knew the most Richard (Emily) Stoecker, Adam Taworoski, and niece Amy Rossetti.
A memorial service for Mrs. Helen Maggaro will be held on Wednesday May 7, 2025 at Sylvan Abbey Funeral Home at 4:30pm with a reception to follow.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Deborah Hospital Heart and Lung Center and the Humane Society.
