Herbert Clifford MacKinnon

HERBERT CLIFFORD MACKINNON, born August 15, 1930 in Quincy, Massachusetts, passed peacefully on January 1, 2017. He was a graduate of Oliver Ames High School, North Easton, in 1947. Then attended Tufts University, where he was a member of the band and Alpha Tau Omega fraternity. He graduated with a BS in Chemistry in 1951. He became employed by Agrico in Detroit, MI. He married his high school sweetheart, Barbara Ann Burrows, on April 7, 1953, a graduate of Wheelock College. Still working for Agrico, he transferred to Saginaw, MI. He then was commissioned as an officer in the U.S. Air Force towards the end of the Korean War. He returned to Agrico in 1954 and continued in Saginaw, Carteret, NJ, New York City, NY, Memphis, TN, and Tulsa, OK. He retired at age 55 in 1985 from Agrico which was by then one of the Williams Companies. He then worked for H.J. Baker from 1985 to 1999. He then began his consulting career with his own company, MCK of Tampa. In 2004, he partnered with Danny Holt with DADH, Inc. and formed Dustech LLC. He retired in spring of 2016, at age 86, due to health reasons. During his professional career, he was involved in many trade organizations. He loved being with family, listening to music, and sailing. He was predeceased by his wife, Barbara, in 2004. He is survived by his sister, Esme Cahill of Contoocook, NH, his daughter, Ellen MacKinnon Muehlenweg and her son, Sean Muehlenweg, his daughter Beth MacKinnon Hemmert and her husband, Wade Hemmert and their son, Corey Hemmert, and his loving dog, Roo, all of Tampa, FL. He has been a member of the Temple Terrace Presbyterian Church since 1989. During those 24 years, he served on many committees, and was on the session for several terms. Services will be held on Saturday, January 7, 2017 at 11:00am at Temple Terrace Presbyterian Church, 420 Bullard Parkway, Temple Terrace, FL.
