

James William Pfister, 89, of Belleair, Florida, passed away peacefully on Monday, June 16, 2025. A devoted husband, proud veteran, esteemed educator, and passionate traveler, Jim led a life rich in purpose and adventure.
Born in Elkhart, Indiana to the late Marie and Eli Pfister, Jim answered the call to serve his country as a member of the United States Army during the Korean War. He was stationed in Hawaii, an experience that began a lifelong love of travel and exploration.
After his military service, Jim pursued his passion for learning. He earned his Bachelor’s degree from Indiana University, his Master’s from Ball State University, and later his Doctorate from Nova Southeastern University. A dedicated educator, he went on to teach Business Management and Accounting at St. Petersburg College for over 35 years, influencing the lives of countless students with his wisdom, integrity, and humor.
Beyond the classroom, Jim was deeply involved in his community. He was a proud member of the Clearwater American Legion Post 7 and the Rotary Club of Clearwater, organizations that reflected his commitment to service and camaraderie.
Jim and his beloved wife Sandee shared a love of travel, journeying across the globe together and creating memories that spanned continents. Their life together was filled with laughter, exploration, and deep mutual respect.
Jim is survived by Sandee, his devoted wife and best friend; his sister, Kathy Pfister; and a large circle of extended family members and dear friends who will miss his warmth, intelligence, and steady presence.
A visitation will be held on Thursday, June 26, 2025, from 10:00 AM until the start of the funeral service at 11:00 AM at Sylvan Abbey Funeral Home, 2853 Sunset Point Road, Clearwater, Florida 33759. A committal service will follow at Sylvan Abbey Memorial Park, 2860 Sunset Point Road, Clearwater.
