Born on January 15, 1946 in Lewiston, Maine, Janis was the cherished daughter of the late Elsie and Robert Thomas. Jan grew up on the shores of Sabattus Lake, ME, a place that provided many special childhood memories.
A devoted and hardworking professional, after graduation from Pierce Secretarial School in Boston, MA, she spent much of her career as an executive assistant. First at Honeywell in Waltham, Massachusetts, later at Ropes and Gray Law Firm in Boston, finishing her career with EMC Corporation in Hopkinton, MA. Jan and her husband turned a passion for antique’s into a business in MA, which they enjoyed very much before retiring and moving to Holiday, Florida in 2013.
Janis found joy in the simple pleasures of life — curling up with a good book, challenging herself with a game of Babble, enjoying movies, and most of all, spending time with her family and loved ones. Her kindness, gentle spirit, and quiet strength will be remembered by all who knew her.
She is survived by her loving brother, Kevin Flannery and his wife Maria; her two nephews Ian and Colin, her niece Meghan, her dear sister, Roberta D. Thomae and her husband Robert; along with many extended family members and close friends who will forever hold her memory in their hearts.
Janis was preceded in death by her husband, Roland Bilodeau, with whom she shared many wonderful years.
She will be laid to rest at Forestvale Cemetery in Hudson, Massachusetts.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association at www.alz.org, in honor of Janis’s compassionate heart and enduring legacy.
