Born on July 20, 1923 in Linton, Australia, Joan Carson Kori transitioned to eternal life on March 23, 2024. She is proceeded in death by her husband of 72 years, Cromwell Kori, mother and father Ann Mileora and Johnson Carson, brothers Jim (Wanda) and Max (Irene), and sisters, Alma (Roy), Edna (Gerald), Joyce, and Lila.
She met the true love of her life, Cromwell (Duke), at a dance while he was in the Army Air Force in Melbourne, Australia during WWII. They married and, after the War, lived in the U.S. with children, Edward Cromwell Kori (Carol) and Jennifer Mileora Kori (George). Joan was the adoring Grandmother of Trevor Kori, Christina Kori, Cheri Kori, and Patrick Flores. She was Great Grandmother to Natessa (Jordan), Christian, Triniti (Spencer), Micah, and Katie and Great, Great Grandmother to baby Weston Cromwell.
Joan worked as a secretary for Lords of London during WWII and, after raising her children, worked as a real estate agent and bookkeeper in the Tampa area. She was a devout Christian who deeply loved the Lord. She was most proud of an award she had received as a young girl for attending Sunday School for 10 years without missing a single Sunday. She also loved being recognized in school as an excellent poem orator and loved performing at her school and church.
She was a devoted wife and mother who loved and cherished her whole family. Loving the Lord and her family was her “everything” reason for living. She was smart, witty, kind, loving, and truly an irreplaceable presence in the lives of all who loved her. Forever loved and forever in our hearts until we meet again.
A celebration service will be held at Sylvan Abbey 2853 Sunset Point Rd. in Clearwater, FL at 11 am with a reception to follow for friends and family.
