John was born in New Jersey, but moved to Southern California when he was two years old. He grew up in the Los Angeles area. He met his wife, Janel, at Reseda Baptist Church in the college youth group. They were married there on December 3, 1965. John graduated from the University of California Northridge with a degree in Accounting. After graduation, he served as an officer in the United States Air Force for 4 years 2 months and 11 days attaining the rank of Captain.
He served in Vietnam and Thailand during the Vietnam war. Later he received his MBA from Pepperdine University in Malibu, California. He also worked for 29 years for William M Mercer, Inc. He and his family moved to Atlanta, Georgia in 1984 when he became the Southern Regional Controller for Mercer. John was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis in 1998 and soon thereafter had to retire from
his job due to his illness. In 2006, John and Janel moved to Dunedin, Florida to be near their grandchildren, and to be a part of their lives as they were growing up.
John was known for his love for the Lord and his love for his family. He had a marvelous sense of humor and was a man or integrity. We will all greatly miss him, but we rejoice that he is no longer suffering.
A Memorial Service will be held to honor John’s life on January 10, 2015 at Lakeside Community Chapel in Clearwater, Florida at 11:00 am.
In Lieu of flowers, the family requests that you make donations in John’s name to the Suncoast Hospice Foundation at www.SuncoastHospiceFoundation.org.
