

John T. Fawell, 81, of Clearwater passed away August 13, 2024. He was born in Niagara Falls, NY to parents Ellen McIntyre and Parker Fawell. John went to Southside High School in Elmira, NY, but left so he could join the Navy at an early age. After the Navy, John received his MBA from the University of Dayton. On August 7, 1965, John married the love of his life Joyce and they would eventually adopt their two sons, Jeffrey and Jason Fawell. The family moved around a bit until they settled down in Clearwater, Florida in 1990. For his career, John worked in the IT field for over 40 years and retired in 2006.
In his personal time, he enjoyed reading, flying, and scuba diving. He also loved animals, he spent a lot of his free time volunteering at the Humane Society and the Clearwater Marine Aquarium. Many people wouldn’t know, but John has also made his debut on the big screen with his participation in the movie Dolphin Tale.
John is preceded in death by his parents Parker Fawell and Ellen Smith, sister Margaret Halm, grandson Michael Fawell, and stepdad James Smith.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years Joyce A. Fawell, Jeffrey Fawell, Jason (Paula) Fawell, grandchildren Jeffrey James, Gabriella, Allanah, Tensley, brother-in-law Thomas Halm, sister-in-law Phyllis (Jerry) Ditmer, and Judith (Richard) Pitt, and many nieces and nephews.
A visitation for Mr. John Fawell will take place at Sylvan Abbey Funeral Home Saturday August 17th, 2024 at 1:00pm, Funeral service to follow at 2:00pm, Committal service at 3:00pm, and reception to take place after. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in John’s memory to St. Jude’s Children Research Hospital.
