

Born in Vancouver, Washington and raised in Tacoma, John began his life-long photography passion as the high school yearbook photographer and upon graduation served as the battalion photographer for the Washington State National Guard.
Enlisting in the U.S. Air Force in 1956, John retired as a Tech Sgt. in 1976, where he served as an Aerospace Photographic Systems Technician and later as a General Purpose Vehicle and Body Maintenance Technician. His military service took him to Air Force bases overseas including England, France, Spain, Thailand, Okinawa, Korea and he served in the Vietnam War. Stateside, he was stationed in Colorado, Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas, California, North Dakota, Illinois, North Carolina and Alabama.
After retirement, John became a full-time student at Pinellas Vocational Technical Institute studying nuclear pipe welding, and used this skill at Jim Walter Homes as a senior lab technician.
John was married to Kathryn Green, his wife of 45 years, who he joined in many travels. He was an avid reader and enjoyed many hobbies in addition to photography such as art, woodworking, computers, his gun collection and walking with his dogs on the trails near his home.
Born December 4, 1936, John is preceded in death by his parents Jack and Virginia, step-mother Marie; and siblings George and Betty Ann. He is survived by his wife Kathryn of the home, daughter Susan Anderson and husband Barry of Oklahoma; granddaughter Lauren Riley and husband Will of Oklahoma; step-daughter Mary Louise Owens and husband Robert of Arizona; and step-son Johnny Brewer and wife Gail of Arizona.
