Dr. Jonathon "J.J." Shapland

He was born and raised in Dunedin, Florida on November 1, 1982. He graduated from Clearwater Central Catholic High School and attended both St. Petersburg College and Florida Atlantic University on a baseball scholarship. From a young age, Jonathon was destined & determined to be a great baseball player. With his father and coach by his side, J.J. practiced tirelessly and was drafted by the Milwaukee Brewers in 2002.

After his baseball career ended, Jonathon went to work for his father at Wadsworth Golf Construction. Deciding to follow in his sister Allison’s footsteps, Jonathon pursued a chiropractic career. With the encouragement and support of his family, he attended Palmer College of Chiropractic and graduated with his doctorate in 2016.

J.J.'s sports and movie knowledge was also extensive. He loved trying new restaurants and foods, and was a dedicated Chicago Cubs fan. Anyone who met Jonathon couldn’t help but like him. His kind and gentle nature made him easy to talk to and he could talk about anything.

J.J. touched the lives of so many, and we will always carry his memory in our hearts.

He was preceded in death by his father, Jon Shapland.

Jonathon is survived by his wife, Amie Bliss Shapland; stepson, Blane Bliss; his mother, Marsha Shapland; his brother Gary Shapland and partner Ines Cuevas, his sister Allison Shapland Coletti, his sister Melanie Shapland Fernandez and husband John Fernandez; his niece, Kelsey Coletti, and his nephews, Caden Coletti, Cameron Coletti, Croix Coletti and Davis Fernandez; and many loving uncles, aunts, friends & neighbors; and his beloved dog and companion, Banner.
