Joseph E. Emery

Joseph E. Emery, 91, of Clearwater passed away on July 4, 2021. He was born August 4,1929 in Hartford, Illinois to Joseph Cornelius Emery and Gladys Hunter Emery. He married Shirley M. (Jordan) Emery on on February 4, 1951. Shirley M. Emery preceded him in death December 4, 2015. Joseph is also preceded in death by a son-in-law; Justin Jones whom passed December of 2015.

Joseph is survived by a daughter; Pamela S. (Mark) Patton, grandsons; Joseph A. (Morgan) Patton and Nicholas Patton, a granddaughter; Jennifer S. Jones, great grandchildren; Ayla, Miles, Alice and Nicholas Jr. Patton and Peyton Jones.

Joseph was drafted into the army in May 1951 and went to boot camp in Kentucky and then in September 1951 he went to Germany until March 1953. He was a mailman in Wood River, Illinois from March 1958 until he retired April 1987.

His hobbies included playing jazz piano, painting pictures, putting together model airplanes, watching tennis and spending time with his family. He video taped every event in the family (i.e. holidays, birthdays, births, special events, etc.) beginning in 1987 and made numerous volumes in which he transferred to DVD for the family.

There will be a small visitation held for Joseph at 10:30 am on Saturday, July 10 with service starting at 11:00 am at Sylvan Abbey Funeral Home.
