Joyce H Broadwell

Joyce Hales Broadwell, 89, passed away at home on July 9, 2021 with her husband and sons by her bedside eight days after her birthday and sixty-fifth wedding anniversary. She was born in Middlesex, N.C. on July 1, 1932, to the late Daniel and Christine Debnam Hales. Joyce was also pre-deceased by: her daughter Pamela Broadwell; brother Walter Hales; sister Sally Rayle; and her mother and father-in-law Nettie and Arnold Broadwell. She is survived by: her husband Bob Broadwell; sons Brett Broadwell (Sharon) and Rob Broadwell (Christina); granddaughters Lauren Broadwell and Shelby Broadwell; grandsons Chad Berry (Katy), Adam Berry (Elizabeth), and Jackson Broadwell; great granddaughters Lyla Joyce Berry and Nora Kate Berry; brother Johnnie Hales; two special sister-in-laws Barbara Hales and Brenda Holman; and a number of beloved nieces and nephews.

Prior to retirement Joyce taught special education and math at Dunedin Middle School. She also tutored dozens of students through the years.

Joyce was a life-long follower and faithful servant of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. She will be greatly missed by her family and many friends.

There will be a visitation held for Joyce at Sylvan Abbey Funeral Home on Wednesday, July 14 at 10:00 am with a funeral service starting at 10:30. A graveside service will follow at Sylvan Abbey Memorial Park at 11:30 am.
