

Kathleen O’Connor, 74, of Palm Harbor, Florida passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, July 17th, 2021, following a courageous battle with cancer. Kathleen was born September 5, 1946, in Queens, New York, to Andrew and Helen McDermott. Kathleen was part of a large loving family of eight brothers and sisters. She married the love of her life, Donald O’Connor, April 23, 1965, in Commack, New York. Donald and Kathleen raised their family in Smithtown, New York until they moved to Florida in 1983.
Kathleen was a loving and caring person to all that had the pleasure to know her. She had so many amazing memories playing tennis with her family and being with her loved ones. She also enjoyed just being by the water and relaxing or fishing, which was one of her favorite hobbies later in life. Kathleen’s favorite moments involved any time she could spend with her family.
She was truly one of a kind and will be greatly missed by both her family and friends. She is survived by her son Keith O’Connor (Mary) of Oldsmar, Florida; daughter Kerri Uchytil (Craig) of Louisville, Kentucky; 6 grandchildren (Raiza Soto, Kayla Uchytil, Ryan O’Connor, Shaye Uchytil, Connor Uchytil and Natalie O’Connor); 3 great grandchildren (Yemil, Ailani, and Nikolai Soto); Sisters Maryellen Browning and Ginna Hunter, brothers Dennis McDermott, John Banker, Bob Banker and many dear nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her loving partner of 11 years, Robert Pomarico.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband Donald; son Darryl; brothers Brian and Terrance McDermott, and sister Eileen Scholl.
A funeral mass will be held 10:30AM Friday, July 23, 2021 at Espiritu Santo Catholic Church in Safety Harbor with Committal Service to follow at Calvary Catholic Cemetery. Kathleen’s family will host a Celebration of Life gathering at 3PM at East Lake Woodlands Country Club, 1055 E. Lake Woodlands Pkwy, Oldsmar, FL 34677.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Kathleen’s honor to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or the Suncoast Hospice Foundation.
