She was born on December 3, 1945, in Chicago, Illinois, to the late Allan and Agnes Wilton.
Lynn began her career as a teacher with Chicago Public Schools and held a lifelong belief in the importance of everyone having access to a rigorous, high-quality education. She later dedicated herself fully to her family as a devoted stay-at-home wife and mother, carrying that same spirit of curiosity and care into every part of her life. She loved learning, creating, and connecting—whether through sewing, painting, and woodworking; researching genealogy; volunteering at the library; or as a longtime member of Heritage United Methodist Church, where she especially cherished playing in the handbell choir.
She found joy in both the simple and the spirited: a good game of cards, a night at the theater, traveling to new places, or spending time with her family. She had a particular love for Sherlock Holmes, a deep affection for dogs, and an ever-present sense of imagination and humor. Above all, Lynn loved her family deeply and took great pride in time spent with her husband, daughters, and grandchildren.
Lynn’s life was extended by a remarkable 24 years through the generosity of an organ donor—time that allowed her to witness her daughters’ weddings, welcome her sons-in-law, and know and love her five grandchildren, as well as many beloved dogs and granddogs. Her life stands as a testament to both resilience and the profound impact of generosity.
Lynn was a resolute woman—kind, generous, creative, and quietly strong. She loved deeply and was deeply loved in return.
She was preceded in death by her brother, Ronald Wilton, and her parents, Allan and Agnes Wilton.
She is survived by her beloved husband, Charles Wells; her daughters, Karin Schultz (Tim), Holly Roseski (Mike), and Autumn Gray (Kevin); her cherished grandchildren, Willow, Gaven, Sarah, Charlie, and Olivia; as well as many beloved nieces, nephews, and extended family members; and her faithful canine companion, Tricki Woo.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Sylvan Abbey Funeral Home.
