MARJORIE ANN WALTER DEAREST MOTHER Obituary Marjorie Ann Walter was born 94 years ago in Auburn, N.Y. on April 11, 1920. She was the only child of Margaret and Clarence Heieck. Her brother, William, had died as a baby. Marjorie grew up in a funeral home as her father, Clarence, was a Funeral Director in Auburn, a small town on Owasco Lake in upstate New York. Marjorie learned to drive a car on a nine passenger hearse. She was a talented artist, avid reader and, most of all, loved her family. She met her husband, Harry Walter, when she was 14 years old and their friendship blossomed into marriage in 1942. They were separated by World War II for almost 3 years and, upon Harry’s return from the army, they moved to Detroit, Michigan where their daughter, Margaret was born. Marjorie and Harry also lost a little son, named William, who died at birth. Marjorie worked with her father, Clarence, after her parents, also, moved to Michigan after the war. Her father left the funeral business and opened the Royal Rod Co., which made and sold fishing rods of all kinds. Marjorie was her father’s accountant and helped in the manufacturing of fishing rods. Marjorie and Harry and their daughter, Margaret, lived in Southfield, Michigan. In 1985, they moved to Safety Harbor, Fl., following their daughter and her family who had settled in Palm Harbor, Fl in 1984. Marjorie and Harry loved their grandsons, David and Tom. They loved to travel. Spending time on Sanibel Island and cruises were their favorite vacations. They visited many different places from Alaska to Venezuela. They were married for over 65 years when the Lord called the “love of her life” home to heaven in 2007. Marjorie is survived by her daughter, Margaret and her son-in-law, Tom Krivchenia, two grandsons, David and his wife Darlene, Tom and his wife, Becky, and four great-grandchildren, Katelyn, Emma, Harrison and Parker. A Visitation will be held on Friday, June 13, at Sylvan Abbey Funeral Home on Sunset Pointe on Clearwater from 6-8pm. The Funeral Mass will be at 10:00 AM, at Espiritu Santo Catholic Church, in Safety Harbor.
