Salzman, Marletta M, 85 of Clearwater passed Sunday, May 9th quietly at her home surrounded by her family, just the way she wanted. Born Sept 8, 1935 in Pittsburgh, PA, she was the daughter of Rudolpho Benevento and Elizabeth Gilbert. Marletta graduated from HS at 16 and began working in a bank. She really had a knack for finance and wanted to share lessons of “saving for a rainy day”, that was really important to her. She retired in 1997 from Pinellas County Employees Credit Union, where she was a VP working in the Collections/Visa Department. She was quite a Socialite. Affectionately known as Marti to all her friends and neighbors, she served on various party planning boards throughout her lifetime. Her last was at Regency Oaks where she was on the Birthday Committee making sure that everyone had a special day. She was loved by many. Marletta loved to sew and it broke her heart that her hands and eyes gave out on her. Marletta is predeceased by her late husband, Jay E. Salzman. She is survived by her 3 children, Karen Pihakis, Michael Hurley (wife, Donnalynn), Marletta Wright (husband, Steve), 5 grandchildren, Zachery Wright, John Michael Hurley (wife, Anna Lace), Mikel Lynn Tsangaris (Husband, Chris), Alex Pihakis, Hannah Lynn Wallace (husband, Kenneth) 7 great-grandchildren, Ka’liyah , Piper, Henry, Cooper, Dimitri, Kenneth, Andy and in Heaven, Sophie Rose who was waiting to meet her Great-Grandmother. Funeral will be 2:30 Sunday, May 16 at Sylvan Abbey Funeral Home, 2853 Sunset Point Rd., Clearwater, Florida 33759. Visitation will be 12:30 to 2:30 prior. Burial will be in Sylvan Abbey Memorial Park. Many thanks to the caring people and volunteers at Suncoast Hospice/Empath. We are honored and blessed that we had her in our lives for as long as we did.
