Our beloved mother and friend to many, Mary E. Gibson, passed on Wednesday, September 17, 2025, at the age of 99 after a short illness. She was an avid word game enthusiast, enjoyed Mexican Train dominoes, and loved challenging anyone to try and beat her watching Wheel of Fortune. She also loved her church family and was a founding member of Skycrest United Methodist Church where she attended for 63 years.
She was married to Oma “Hoot” Gibson on June 20, 1948, who she lost in 1992. She is survived by her 3 sons and their spouses: Stephen Gibson and his wife Kathy of New Port Richey, FL; Kenneth Gibson and his wife Janice of San Antonio, FL; and Jay Gibson of Clearwater, FL; her grandson Albin “Al” Gibson of Clearwater, FL; and her great granddaughters ,Morgan Devol Herrera of Greenville, S.C., and Julia Devol of Houston, TX; as well as a brother, Jerry Reed, of Maryville, Illinois.
There will be a reception/celebration of life on Wednesday, September 24th, 11:00am, at Skycrest United Methodist Church, 2045 Drew Street, Clearwater, FL.
