Mary Elaine Whitehorn (formerly Mitchell) passed away peacefully on February 7, 2016. Mary was born July 11, 1930, in Huntington, West Virginia, the oldest of three children of Earl and Frances Seffense. She is survived by her husband, David Whitehorn, and by her six children, Terry Boatner (Herb), Kevin Mitchell (Kathy), Lila Wayman (Gary), Holly Varner (Jerry), Brian Mitchell (Helen), and Patrick Mitchell (Marti), as well as 18 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. Mary was preceded in death by her brothers Joseph and John Seffense, and by her son, Kelly Mitchell.
Mary lived a full life, enjoying many adventures. She had extraordinary energy, an irrepressible spirit, and an unforgettable personality. Mary will be forever missed by her loving family and her many friends, some of whom were life long. There will never be another like her. May she rest in peace.
A funeral mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. on February 20, 2016 at St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church, 1955 S. Belcher Road, Clearwater, Florida 33764.
