Paul Newman Tobin

Born on April 9, 1932, in New York, New York, Paul was the beloved son of Rebecca and Samuel Stein. After graduating from the University of Florida with a degree in Chemistry, Paul served in the United States Army, earning the distinction of being the youngest Second Lieutenant in the United States Army when he was commissioned.

Paul went on to become the owner of People’s Furniture Store, a business that he nurtured with care and dedication over the years. He was known for his strong work ethic and his genuine kindness, always making time for his family, friends, and community. Outside of work, Paul was an avid golfer, enjoyed sailing, and loved playing tennis, but nothing brought him more joy than being surrounded by his loved ones.

Paul was a former member of Temple Ahavat Shalom and Countryside Country Club, where he formed many lasting friendships. He had a warm and generous heart, and he will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Paul is survived by his devoted wife, Judy Tobin; his children, Jeff (Regina) Tobin, Debbie (Jim) Cusick, and Brad (Kim) Tobin; his grandchildren, Lindsey (Jeff) Rubin, Jamie Cusick, Sophie Tobin, Ben Tobin, and Josh Tobin; and his great-grandchildren, Asher and Eliana Rubin. He is also survived by many extended family members and friends, all of whom will remember his kindness, humor, and unwavering love for those close to him.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Rebecca and Samuel Stein; his first wife, Gerri Tobin; and his brother, Donald Stein.

A graveside service will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, January 30, 2025, at Sylvan Abbey Memorial Park, 2860 Sunset Point Road, Clearwater, Florida 33759. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that memorial donations be made in Paul’s memory to the Wounded Warrior Project at www.support.woundedwarriorproject.org.

Paul’s legacy of love, service, and dedication to family will live on in the hearts of all who were fortunate to know him. He will be deeply missed but never forgotten.
