Dick was born in Portland, Maine, graduated from Deering High School, and served in the United States Navy before settling in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, to attend the Milwaukee School of Engineering (MSOE). There he met his future bride, Karyn Belle Kee. They were married in May, 1959, and had three children: Linda, Rick, and Bart.
In 1972, upon his graduation from MSOE with a degree in Electrical Engineering, Dick moved the family to Clearwater, Florida, where he began a career with Honeywell as an Avionics Logistics Engineer. His job assignments took him to Guam, Seattle, Houston, and Cape Canaveral.
He is predeceased by his wife of 60 years, Karyn, in 2019, and brother, Fred “Jigger” Loring. He is survived by siblings Jean Weymoth of Portland, Maine, and Jonathan Loring, of South Portland, Maine. He is also survived by children, Linda Molinaro (Joe), Clearwater, Florida; Rick (Tracy), Cape Elizabeth, Maine; and Bart, Palm Harbor, Florida. He is Grandfather to Bartlett Dylan Loring; Emily, Jabe, and Grace Molinaro; Sarah and Sam Loring; and Great-Grandfather to Juniper, Basil, Petunia, and Ivy Schmidt.
