Robbie Jerome Woodard’s journey into this world began with his birth in Elm City, North Carolina in 1956. He was Ted and Mattie Ruth Woodard’s second child, his eldest sister was Wanda and siblings Teddy and Tonya followed soon after him. His parents were hard working and instilled within their children a sense of perseverance, resilience, and a deep rooted love for the Lord, Jesus Christ. Robbie accepted Jesus as his personal Savior at a young age and as he went in life he continued to immerse himself in God’s word and grow in his walk with Christ. He attended Walter Hines Page High School in Greensboro NC. He joined the U. S. Air Force in 1976. His decision to enter the military was greatly influenced by his Uncle Milton Roundtree and his oldest Uncle Joe Roundtree (deceased) a recipient of the distinguished Purple Heart. Robbie began his military career at Kelly Air Force base in San Antonio, TX. Later moving to Randolph Air Force Base where he met the love of his life, his angel, Vilma Lozada. They married in 1980. They traveled throughout various bases, which included Hickam AFB Hawaii, Patrick AFB Florida, San Vito AB Italy, and Plattsburg AFB NY where he retired in 1995. While Robbie was still in the military, he had the pleasure of working for Randy Linthicum. When Robbie retired from the military, it was Randy that offered him an opportunity to come work for the City of Pinellas Park where he worked at a Network Systems Analyst. He was a loyal and dedicated worker for over 20 years. While working for the city he also pursued his education and received a bachelor’s degree in Information Technology from the University of Phoenix. Robbie had a love of fishing, watching old westerns, karate and sci-fi movies, especially Star Trek. He loved listening to smooth jazz and you could hear him listening to his favorite artists throughout the day. He was a huge fan of football with his favorite team being the Pittsburgh Steelers. He was a stranger to no one, he loved people and getting to know them. There was no subject he wasn’t an expert in. Despite that, family was always most important to him. He always talked about his family and how proud he was of them. Robbie and his family became members of Skycrest Community Church, where Robbie became a devoted Deacon. In addition, he was passionate about serving as a member of Kairos Prison Ministries and most recently attending and working on the Via de Christo Ministries where he was a faithful servant for the Lord. Left to cherish his loving memories are his wife Vilma Woodard, two daughters; Melissa and Alexandra; his siblings, Teddy (Betty) Woodard and daughter Janae; Wanda Woodard, and Tonya Surgeon and daughters Jade and Amber; in-laws: Jose (Carmelina) Lozada, Elizabeth (Manuel) Rodriquez and their children, Sylvia Gorritz and her children, Jose (Delphia) Lozada and his children; his many Uncles, Aunts and other relatives. “Let not your heart be troubled; ye believe in God, believe also in me. In my father’s house are many mansions if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself that where I am, there ye may be also. And whither I go ye know, and the way ye know. Thomas said unto him, Lord we know not whither thou goest; and how can we know the way? Jesus said unto him, I am the way, the truth and the life: no man cometh unto the father, but by me. If ye had known me, ye should have known my Father also: and from henceforth ye know him, and have seen him.” In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested in Robbie’s memory to: Kairos Prison Ministry Intl, c/o Paul Sabatier-Smith, 8010 Kathleen Road, Lakeland, FL 33810-4456.
