

Robert W. Jungenberg, 95, of Pinellas Park, FL passed away peacefully in his sleep the morning of June 27, 2015. He was born May 24, 1920 in Nekoosa, WI to William G. and Hazel (Haskins) Jungenberg. He married Elnora N. Paasch on August 25, 1945.They were married 55 years before her passing in 2001. A special friend, Gene Marie Halldorson, preceded him in death. He was a WWII veteran, serving in the Army as a Howitzer gunnery instructor. For the majority of his employment he was an 18-wheel truck driver; at one time owning his own tractor while working as an independent driver. He worked for several transport firms during his career and retired from Badger Freightways as a long time employee and Teamster member. Robert was an avid fisherman including both fresh and salt water varieties. His prize catch was a 52-inch, 34 lb 7oz muskie caught in 1963. With this, he won second place in a weekly contest in Eagle River, WI. In addition, he also caught several halibut on a trip he and his wife took to AK. Deer hunting in WI, and a subsequent trip to WY for antelope, was also in his activities, as was pheasant hunting. He and his wife traveled extensively during their retirement years using a 32-ft trailer as a “home away from home”. They enjoyed going to Holiday Rambler rallies with trips to AK and Mexico being the highlight of their adventures. They returned to WI yearly during the summer months to visit friends and family returning to FL in the “cooler” months. Robert was preceded in death by his wife, Elnora; parents, William G. and Hazel; brothers, Donald, Jack and William Jungenberg; daughter-in-law, Kathleen Elizabeth (Tully) Jungenberg; and nephew, Ricky Jungenberg. He is survived by his son, Gary Jungenberg; brothers, Elwood (Geraldine) and James Jungenberg; sister-in-law, Carman Jungenberg; nieces, Susan and Helen Jungenberg; and nephews, Michael, Jeffrey and Timothy Jungenberg. A memorial service will be held at Grace Lutheran Church, 4601-16th Street North, St. Petersburg, FL on Thursday, July 16, 2015 at 1:00PM. Interment will be conducted in a private ceremony. Sylvan Abbey Funeral Home has been entrusted with arrangements.
