Born on April 1, 1965, in Cincinnati, Ohio, Robert was the beloved son of Robert and Constance Stevens. He grew up alongside his sister Tracie and brother Harold. During his early school years, Robert and his family relocated to Pinellas County, Florida, where he later graduated from Pinellas Park High School.
It was there, during his junior year, that he met the love of his life, Karen Jans. The two were inseparable from the start and married in 1988. Together, they built a loving home and raised four children: Anne, Kimberly, James, and Mary.
Robert dedicated over 30 years of his career as an engineer with IBM, later AT&T, where he was respected for both his work ethic and technical expertise.
Outside of work, Robert was a true outdoorsman. He found joy in fishing, boating, and playing guitar, but his greatest passion was always spending quality time with his family. Known for his warm heart, quiet strength, and steady presence, Robert was a devoted husband, a proud father, and a cherished friend.
He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
He is survived by his loving wife of 36 years, Karen Stevens, children Anne (John) Stone, Kimberly Stevens, James Stevens, and Mary Stevens, grandson Ethan Stone, siblings Tracie (Mike) Boyd and Harold (Ed Sweet) Stevens, Nieces and Nephews Emily Lee, Ryan Bluestone, Roxie Sweetstevens, and Wylie Sweetstevens, and great-niece Alana Lee.
A gathering of family and friends will be held at Sylvan Abbey Funeral Home on Saturday, June 28, 2025 starting at 1:00pm with a Celebration of Life service to follow at 2:00pm. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to American Cancer Society in Robert's memory.
