Well Dad here I am, it’s been 3 months now. I am so sorry but I couldn’t bring myself to write on here just yet. It makes it real and I wasn’t ready to believe you were gone (I still can’t accept it). It’s my first Father’s Day without you and my heart is breaking! I Remember all of the wonderful memories with you. Everyone said I was always in your hip pocket, and I still am. When I was a little girl, I would run to you and you would catch me and hold me up in the air. I rode on the tractor with you when I was a little girl and wrote you notes to wake me up, so I could be with you. I made us Picnic lunches in the field with a zero candy bar we liked. I rode behind your seat in the tractor, until I was too big, then I sat on the steps. When I got my horse Cheynne, I’d ride him up and down the fields all day while you were in the tractor, just so I could be with you. I remember my first day of school and getting on the bus, how I missed you all day, I drew pictures of us on the tractor and felt lost and lonely. You taught me how to drive and if I pulled my foot off the clutch of the tractor too fast, the bales of hay would fall off the on one side and you would fall off the other side. You never got upset with me, even when I would shear a pin on the hay bailer or when I came home after a HS game with the passenger door dented in. You just said, now it’s time you get your own car. If I wasn’t home on time, you’d come looking for me. You helped me raise Mike into a wonderful man. You were the most patient, caring, understanding dad anyone could ask for. I could talk to you about anything, you were always there for me and you never let me down. I always said that I would follow you anywhere, I was like a sand burr stuck to you. I love and miss you terribly, I am lost without you!  You are my rock, my man of steel, and always will be my best friend forever. I love you, your loving daughter Cyndee!  (Sandee, Trinity, Cody and Scruffy too) – You are forever in my heart.

I used to go visit Russ and Linda at their pool with my sister and her boyfriend (also my friend). Those were fun times. Russ used to ask me questions and seemed to value my answer. I used to talk to him at work. He was a great guy and he will be missed.

Remembering a man and a life well lived.  My grandpa was born in the kitchen on his family’s farm.  He grew up during the Great Depression.  I remember him telling me how his dad let other families live in tents on the property and grow their own food to feed their families.  I remember him telling me how he rode motorcycles and flew airplanes and how it scared his mom.  How he looked back at an old photo of himself with his Harley and smiling, saying the band-aid was from a fight he got into the night before.  I remember how he lit up when he talked about his dad and the pain that overtook him when his dad died.  How he managed to push forward and grow the family farm.  I remember him joking about my mom when she was born and the funny face he made.  I remember him talking about my Aunt Bobbie and how much of a spitfire she was and the endless suffering he had to endure from losing her when she was only 15.  I remember looking up at him when I was a boy and holding his hand.  How safe I felt just knowing he was there.  I remember how I didn’t want to disappoint him and how I wanted to be just like him.  I remember working in the yard with him, putting up fences, laying sod, fixing sprinklers and planting palm trees.  I remember how it seemed like he could fix just about anything and how easy he made it look.  I remember how people were drawn to him and how much fun it was to be around him.  He was gentle and fierce, strong willed and devoted, honest and determined.  He was as good as it gets and lived a full life with all its ups and downs.  I’ll always remember you smiling at me and your voice when you called my name.  I love you Bumps, and I’ll miss you always.

A true cowboy and an incredible man! Thank you for all the memories and the love you gave us all. You will never be forgotten. Love you, Uncle Russ!

Russ was a hard working man that took care of others before himself. I love you so very much and I'm proud to carry your name. Stay out of trouble up there cowboy. 

So sorry to hear this. Russ was a great friend and neighbor. A fun loving man. Love and prayers for the family.
