At the age of thirteen years old, he followed his father and brother to the United States to live the American dream. He graduated from St. Stephens High School in Brooklyn, New York, and furthered his education with an Associates Degree. He started his own business in New York City in the graphic arts field and remained in the business throughout his life. He married Marianne Polomski on January 30, 1981 in Brooklyn with a reception at Top of the Crescent. Sal and Marianne have celebrated each of their 38 beautiful years of marriage by dining “at the top” of a restaurant on their anniversary. Jeanette and Ron have decided to continue the tradition in January, 2020 in Sal’s honor. In 1986, the family moved to Palm Harbor and raised their children there. Sal was joyous, kindhearted and loved not only by his family, but by all who met him. Anybody who knew Sal knew that he loved gardening, kayaking, and fishing. He also loved all his dogs....Mikey and Shelley, Baruch, Baci, Ginger, Juliet, and of course, Romeo. The family of Sal Sigona wishes to extend their sincere thanks to all those who have supported him during his illness. They also want to thank Dr. Peter Soudijn and his medical assistant, Jewel Anderson, of Palm Harbor, and Fr. Brad Reed of St. Cecelia’s Catholic Church in Clearwater who provided immeasurable support during his illness. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Hope Lodge in Tampa. The Hope Lodge provided a free “home away from home” for Sal and those needing treatment at Moffitt Cancer Center. Checks should be made out to the American Cancer Society (add in memo line – Restricted to Hope Lodge, Tampa). Mail check to Hope Lodge, 12810 USF Magnolia Drive, Tampa, FL, 33612.
