Sandy was born on September 25, 1944 at AAE Regional Station Hospital in Orlando, Florida. Her parents were Edwin and Jane Pozdel. Sandy was raised in Chicago, Illinios. She had two younger sisters, Nancy and Judy. As a young girl, Sandy loved ice skating and playing volleyball. While growing up, her best friends were Donna and Sandra.
She graduated from Aquinas Dominican High School in 1962. She went straight into the workforce, getting her first job simply due to her association with Aquinas (a funny story she enjoyed telling often).
On August 25, 1968 Sandy exchanged wedding vows with John A Hudec in a small civil ceremony at City Hall in downtown Chicago. The reception was at a restaurant with family attending. The honeymoon was at the Wisconsin Dells.
Sandy met Marlene Brown in 1972 when Jack installed phones at her apartment building. They became fast friends and were like glue. They share so many memories together, including vacations, holidays, and many shopping trips. In Feathersound, she met Pat who became a dear friend.
Sandy was blessed with two children, one daughter, Angela Therese, and one son, Christopher John. She was also blessed with four grandchildren, Tyler, Johnathan, Evelyn, and Violet.
Her primary occupation was Medical Transcription, which she learned to do at Woodlawn Hospital in Chicago. She was employed at Community hospital in New Port Richey, Diagnostic Clinic in Largo, and was an independent contractor for multiple hospitals. She retired in 2013.
She loved fishing, playing Bunco with her friends, reading romance novels, and listening to the music of Il Volo and Celtic Thunder. She also had a passion for shopping and loved buying presents for her loved ones.
Sandy was an active member of the Independent Order of Foresters, serving as a secretary for several years. She was also a member of a Bunco Club for several decades, which she really enjoyed until her heath made it impossible to participate.
Sandy loved to travel and explore new places. Some of her favorite vacations included trips to Chicago to visit family, Italy in 2004, St. Pete Beach, and regular vacations to North Carolina and Georgia where she had a time share. Years ago, she enjoyed cruises.
Sandy passed away on December 10, 2017 at Morton Plant Hospital in Clearwater, Florida, where she succumbed to heart failure. She is survived by her husband John, her children Angela and Christopher, her grandchildren Tyler, Johnathan, Evelyn, and Violet, and her sisters Nancy and Judy. Services were held at Sylvan Abbey Memorial Park. Sandy was laid to rest in Sylvan Abbey Memorial Park.
All who knew her would agree that Sandy had a great sense of humor and a contagious laugh. She will be missed by all her friends and family. She was a special sister, wife, mother, grandmother, and friend.
