

Born August 21, 1928, in St. Louis, Michigan, Stanley George Tangalakis passed away peacefully on January 17, 2026. The youngest son of George and Kaliope Tangalakis, he graduated from the University of Michigan in 1952 with a Bachelor of Science degree from the College of Pharmacy. A lifelong Wolverines fan, Stan bled maize and blue with unwavering devotion. In 1953, Stan wed his college sweetheart, Nancy, and his love for her never faded during their 66 years of marriage. Their journey together began in Japan with Stan serving in the US Army during the Korean War after which he returned stateside to build an impressive career in medical sales. Starting at Parke-Davis in Detroit, he demonstrated remarkable business acumen that led him to join, grow, and eventually purchase Mercury Medical in Clearwater, Florida, in 1983. His natural charm and charisma helped him achieve great success, and Stan was incredibly generous with his blessings; he found deep joy in helping others and providing for those he loved. Above all else, family meant everything to Stan. He is preceded in death by his beloved wife Nancy and his older siblings Helen, Ted, and Marian. He will be dearly missed by his children Ernest Tangalakis (Kathy), Kali Gargaro (John), and Cynthia Fenton (Bruce). His grandchildren and great-grandchildren will always treasure their Papou’s memory: Sarah Brienich (Rob), Will, and Lucy; Jennifer DeLurgio, Julia, and Marco; Michael Tangalakis (Kim), Owen, and Isla; Katie Kienzle (Kelly), Regan, Van, and Lucas; Rebecca Pohl (Eric), Sawyer, Emma and Wesley; Laura Donnelly (James); Johnny Gargaro; Ryan Reeder; Daniel Reeder; Leah Reeder and Kai. Stan's legacy of kindness, generosity, and devotion to family will live on in all who knew and loved him.
A visitation will be held on January 23, 2026, from 10:00am-11:00am at Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church, located at 409 S Old Coachman Rd, Clearwater, FL 33765. The funeral service will follow at the same location at 11:00am. We will then proceed to the committal service at Sylvan Abbey Memorial Park, 2860 Sunset Point Rd, Clearwater, FL 33759.
A Celebration of Life will immediately follow, including a catered lunch and eulogies, at Sylvan Abbey Funeral Home, 2853 Sunset Point Rd, Clearwater, FL 33759. Please come with a memory to share!
