Susan Raskin, 73, of Palm Harbor, Florida, passed away peacefully on March 21, 2026. She was born on July 10, 1952, in Tampa, Florida, to the late Paul and Coral Hacker. She grew up in Dunedin and graduated from Dunedin High School in 1970.
Susan lived a life defined by compassion, creativity, and determination. As a young woman, she enjoyed her time in Girl Scouts and choir, experiences that reflected her spirited and community-oriented nature. In September 1971, she proudly joined the United States Air Force, serving her country with honor.
After beginning her family, Susan pursued a career as a computer programmer, demonstrating both intelligence and adaptability. Yet her heart led her in a new direction, and in 1991 she fulfilled a lifelong dream by graduating from nursing school as a registered nurse. She dedicated five years as a hospice nurse, providing comfort and dignity to those at the end of life, before continuing her caring work in home health nursing.
Susan’s creative talents were boundless. She found joy in painting, crocheting, and sewing—especially crafting costumes that brought delight to others. She was also known for her playful spirit, sharing smiles through balloon twisting and face painting. An avid reader and devoted fan of science fiction, Susan loved exploring new worlds through books. Above all, she cherished time spent with her family, especially visits to Disney World with her beloved grandchildren.
Susan is survived by her devoted husband, Stephen Raskin; her daughters, Cyndi Raskin-Schmitt, Anthea Oppermann, and Naomi Frierson; her sisters, Bonnie Hacker and Barbara Hacker; and her seven beautiful grandchildren, who were the light of her life.
A Graveside Service with Military Honors will be held on Sunday, April 12, 2026, at 11:00 a.m., followed by a Reception at the funeral home, Sylvan Abbey.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks that donations be made in Susan’s memory to Suncoast Hospice, the American Heart Association, or the Girl Scouts of America.
Susan will be remembered for her kindness, creativity, and unwavering dedication to caring for others. Her legacy lives on in the many lives she touched and in the love she shared so freely.
