Tom was born and raised on a farm in Abingdon, Virginia and carried with him a lifelong appreciation for nature, hard work, and life’s simplest pleasures. He later made his home in Indian Rocks Beach, Florida, where he spent many years building both a career and a life filled with family, friendships, and purpose.
Tom was a proud graduate of Virginia Tech and a true pioneer in his field, becoming one of the first Physician Assistants in Pinellas County. His dedication to caring for others was evident throughout his career, and he made a lasting impact on the many lives he touched. Known for his warmth and practical wisdom, he often left patients with his favorite piece of advice: “Eat your vegetables.”
After retirement, Tom became a seasonal resident of Highland Lake Village in Flat Rock, North Carolina, where he served on the landscape committee and nurtured his passion for gardening and building new friendships.
Tom was a lifelong fan of bluegrass and country-folk music. He loved to sing and play John Prine songs. He was also a co-founder of the Hendersonville Ukulele Group, where he built many lasting friendships. Whether tending plants, sharing stories from his porch, or simply taking in the beauty of the Blue Ridge mountains, Tom found joy in every day.
Above all, Tom’s greatest legacy is the deep love he had for his family. Survived by his devoted wife, Therese Williams; his children, Kacey Williams (Matthew Noon) and Nicholas Williams; and. his extended family. He was preceded in death by his mother, Nannie Mae Williams.
Tom will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
