

Tony Stewart Hobgood, aged 60 years old, passed away surrounded by family at Northside Hospital in St. Petersburg on Wednesday, February 20th, 2019. He was born November 25th, 1958 in Wichita, Kansas to James and Zora Mae Hobgood. He was the third born of four siblings. He attended Barean Baptist Church in Tulsa, Oklahoma and was baptized there. He was a graduate of Dunedin High School and later, of St. Petersburg Junior College. While in college, he earned a scholarship to study watch making in Switzerland and became a horologist (the study of time and clocks). At 24, he had a son named Joshua Hobgood and at 36 he had a daughter, Ashley Hobgood. As an adult he attended St. James Methodist church and, as a trustee of the church, was very involved in church administrative activities. He worked at Honeywell and retired after 30 years of employment. He is preceded in death by his mother, father, and older brother. He leaves behind his wife, Kimberly Cherres; son, Joshua (and Ashley) Hobgood; daughter, Ashley (and Anthony) Hernandez; step-daughter, Alexandria Cherres; grandsons, James and Desmond Hobgood; sister, Sherlyn (and Michael Carter) Hobgood-Carter; brother, Timothy Hobgood; nephews, Matthew, Sr. and Nicholas Cole; great nephew, Matthew Cole, Jr. A memorial service will be held at Sylvan Abbey in Clearwater, FL on Saturday, March 9th at 2pm.
