Aaron passed away on 9 January, 4 years after meningitis began to erode his strengths. He is vastly loved and missed by his mother and father, Julie Edelson and Roy Hantgan, and his sister Abbie. Aaron was kind, considerate, compassionate, hard-working, witty, graceful, generous, and funny. He was an incredibly good sport, and whatever people asked of him, he would “give it a shot”. He always took people on their own terms. He found his passion in photography, graduating from UConn with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree 3 years after sustaining brain injury in a car accident. He came back to work as a photo archivist for the Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery Department at Wake Forest Baptist Health and the Winston-Salem Journal. And he took wonderful photographs – landscapes that are alternately soaring and embracing and portraits that show how much the subjects liked and trusted the photographer.
His last years were made so much better by his home-health caregivers, especially Lee Arlis Archie, his care managers at Centerpoint, Lutheran Family Services, and Lippard Lodge in Clemmons, especially Deborah Tuggle, and all his caregivers there.
A memorial will be held at Vogler Funeral Home on Reynolda Road on Wednesday at 2 P.M. Bring a story.
