

He was born on July 1, 1945 to the late Anna Colunio and Guy Colunio in Syracuse, NY. Albert attended Onondaga Community College. He worked for New Process Gear, which later became New Venture Gear as a millwright for 30 years. After retirement, he moved to North Carolina and began working for the USPS where he worked an additional 15 years.
Albert proudly served his country in the United States Army. He participated in The American Legion with Post 0119 and the VFW.
In his spare time, he loved to golf, especially at Tanglewood in Clemmons. However, Albert’s biggest passion hobby was planes. He had his private pilot license and participated in the Experimental Aircraft Association (EAA) since 1991. Albert also belonged to Popular Rotorcraft Association, Aircraft Owners of America, and BMW Owners of America. He had a great love for Italy as well as a love of movies, books and music.
Albert was preceded in death by his loving wife, Diana Colunio, and granddaughter, Daryl Pace.
He leaves behind his children, Anita Bombard (Dave), Arlene Johnson (Gregg), Barbara Just (Steve Doulass), Dawn Zarnowski (Jeff), Tammy Vermilye (Scott), and Anna Black; 11 grandchildren; many great grandchildren; siblings, MaryAnn Baird (Tom), Dorothy Cummings (Frank), Patty Vannelli (Dominick), and Michele Colunio; numerous nieces and nephews; and many other loved ones and friends.
Inurnment will be at White Chapel Memorial Garden, 6633 Kinne Rd, Syracuse, NY 13214 on Saturday, November 16, 2024 at 1:00 PM. A gathering in fellowship and remembrance will occur on Sunday, November 17, 2024 from 2:30 PM to 6:30 PM at the Simon-Parise VFW Post 9596, 6996 E Taft Rd, East Syracuse, NY 13057.

Diana May Colunio, age 76, passed away on March 26, 2019 surrounded by her loving family.
Diana was born on May 17, 1942 to the late William and May Holroyd. She was born and raised in Syracuse, NY on Briggs Street. Diana owned Ruston’s Diner in the 1980’s and 90’s. She was most proud of her work as a homemaker and watching her family grow and thrive.
Diana is survived by her husband of 41 years, Albert Colunio; children, Anita (David) Bombard, Barbara (Steve Douglass) Just, Dawn (Jeff) Zarnowski, Tammy (Scott) Vermilye, and Anna Black; stepchildren, Dennis, Rose, Debbie, and Arlene; 18 grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, and loved ones.
Diana was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother and she will be truly missed.
The family will have a private service at a later time.
