
Arthur Clifton Walls, 89 of Pfafftown, died Wednesday (December 9, 2009) at Forsyth Medical Center. He was born March 7, 1920 in Wilkes County, NC to William T. and Nannie Corthen Walls. Mr. Walls was a lifetime member of Community United Church of Christ and an active member of the Men’s Fellowship as long as his health permitted. Mr. Walls retired as a mechanic with R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Co. in 1979 after thirty five years of faithful service and also served honorably in the United States Army overseas during WW II, receiving a Purple Heart.He was predeceased by his wife Lola McKinney Walls, parents William T. and Nannie Corthen Walls, brothers Guy, Grady, Claude, and Arnie Walls. Surviving family includes son Darle C. Walls and his wife Joy, daughter Lisa M. Walls; sisters Marie Southern, Maggie (Peggy) Stamper, and Nellie Stamper; brother Ledford Walls; and grandchildren Christopher Todd and wife Kristi, and Virginia Augusta and fiancée Alexander Grau; great grandchildren Harrison Reed and Kate Genevieve Walls. A funeral service, celebrating his life, will be conducted on Saturday, December 12, 2009 3:00 PM at Community United Church of Christ, with burial to follow at Forsyth Memorial Park. The Rev. Steve Monroe will officiate. The Family will visit with their friends Friday (today) from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at the Vogler & Sons Funeral Home, 2951 Reynolda Road, Winston Salem (336-722-6106). Memorials may be made to the Men’s Fellowship of Community United Church of Christ, 3410 Community Church Road, Pfafftown, NC 27040.
