

Betty Gordon Perkins died Monday, March 21, 2011, at the Village Care, in King. Born in Stokes County, North Carolina, she graduated from Pinnacle High School and retired from the McLean Trucking Company and Leinbach Machinery Company.
Mrs. Perkins was preceded in death by her parents Eck and Ora (Nunn) Gordon; husband Thurmond Perkins; sister Virginia Gordon; brother Herman C. Gordon; sister in law Jimmie K. Gordon; and brother in law Lee Stewart Jr.; and niece Diane Collins. Surviving family includes her sister Pollyanna Stewart; brother Thomas E. (Jean) Gordon; nephews Steve, David, and Mike; nieces Connie, Beth, Kim, and Leann; several grand nephews and grandnieces.
She was a member of New Hope United Methodist Church; VFW Auxiliary; the Teamsters Union Retiree Club and enjoyed gardening, crafts, basketball, the Braves, and especially the Statler Brothers.
A Funeral Service celebrating the Life of Betty Gordon Perkins, will be conducted on Friday, March 25, 2011, 11:00 AM at the New Hope United Methodist Church, 5125 Shattalon Drive, Winston-Salem 27106 (336-924-2975) with Dr. Pete Taylor officiating. Burial will follow at Forsyth Memorial Park. Family and friends will visit on Thursday, March 24, 2011, from 5:00 to 8:00 PM at the Vogler Funeral Home Reynolda Chapel, a Dignity Memorial Provider, 2951 Reynolda Road, Winston-Salem (336-722-6106).
