
She was born November 3, 1926 in Teaneck, NJ, the daughter of Arthur and Catherine Bomm Demarest. A 1948 graduate of Bob Jones University, she worked as a Bible Club Movement Missionary and as the chapel Bible teacher for Salem Baptist Christian School along with several other local schools. She also taught at Piedmont International University, courses on Teaching the Bible to Children and The Christian Woman. She taught thousands of children around the world as a missionary. Devoted to her family, she enjoyed traveling and playing games with her grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents,
Survivors include her husband of 62 years, Donald Drake; her four children, Beth (Cliff) Ashburn, Evan (Joy) Drake, Martha Drake and Margaret (Kieran) Brown; her cousin, Peggy (Howard) Sunden; her ten grandchildren, David (Meg) Ashburn, Brian (Meghan) Ashburn, Zachary (Sally) Ashburn, Adam (Faith) Drake, Jonathan Drake, Benjamin (Megan) Drake, Samuel (Grace) Drake, Matthew Drake, Spencer (Jenny) Brown and Lauren Brown and twelve great-grandchildren.
A funeral will be held at 2 PM Saturday, November 15th at Salem Baptist Church conducted by Dr. Charles Petitt and Rev. Evan Drake. Entombment will follow in Forsyth Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 12 noon to 1:45 pm Saturday before the service in the fellowship hall of Salem Baptist Church.
