

He was born in Yadkin County on Nov 2, 1933 to the late Robert Andrew and Adelene Sprinkle Hutchens. Hutch retired from the US Navy with 27 years during which he served in the Korean War. He also retired from Taylor Brothers.
He was a member of VFW Post 9010. He was a Charter member of Clemmons Presbyterian Church where he served as an Elder.
Hutch devoted his life to being a loving husband, father, and friend. He enjoyed mowing his lawn, golfing, RVing and spending time at Kure Beach.
He is survived by his high school sweetheart, Dorothy Beckner Hutchens. They married in 1953. He is also survived by his son, Charles Leonard (Emily) Hutchens, Jr. of Clemmons; step grandchildren, Laura (Dan) Corbin of Advance and Matthew Heide serving in the US Air Force; one brother, Robert Hutchens of Winston Salem; sister-in-law, Barbara Beckner Goodman of Greensboro; and several nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held Monday, Oct 10th at 1pm at Clemmons Pres. Church officiated by Dr. William Hoyle. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow at Westlawn Gardens of Memory with military honors.
