

Charlie was born in Washington North Carolina to the late Samuel and Laura Myrten Cherry. Charlie was a 2 sport star athlete for Washington High School. He was a graduate of East Carolina University and Darden Business School at the University of Virginia.
Charlie served in the Korean conflict and represented the all-star army baseball team.
He retired from R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Co where he was the Director of Leaf Purchasing. His hobbies were his family. He was an avid sports fan.
An ideal day was spent at Badin Lake, gassing up the boats for his grand kids. He never had a bad word to say about anyone and made everyone he met feel loved. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend.
He is survived by his wife, Ollie Hunt Cherry of Clemmons, three daughters, Kathryn Cherry Needham and husband Larry (stretch) Needham, Karen Cherry Houston, all of Asheboro, N.C. Karol Cherry of Clemmons, N.C. Grandchildren, Nikki Cherry Crofoot (Andy), Katie Needham Lopienski (John) , Derek Houston, Drew Houston, Reid Raisig (Melanie), Zack Mcgill and Suzanne Needham. Great grandchildren Madison Arroyo and Jacob Raisig. He is also survived by one sister, Lucy Cherry Ambrose of Newport News, Virginia. Nieces and nephews, Shirley Ambrose Hatten and Bill Ambrose (Anne) of Newport News, Virginia, Lori Cherry Luis and James Cherry of Miami, Florida and nephew in law Lewis Grace (Sarah) of Los Angeles, California.
Service will be held at Clemmons Moravian Church in Clemmons, Saturday December 26 at 2pm. Burial in church cemetery following service.
