Mrs. Cora May Baldwin, 96, of Winston-Salem, passed away Monday, December 23, 2013, at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home.
Cora May was born in Yangshou, China, on April 21, 1917, the daughter of the late Cread Marriott and Cora Burns Marriott. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Chaplain Lt. Col. Conrad C. Baldwin on June 18, 1999, four siblings, Paul, Floyd, Bunny, and Mary Francis.
Mrs. Baldwin was a longtime active member of Knollwood Baptist Church and was involved in missions and Sunday school. She was a graduate of Blue Mountain College in Mississippi and Woman’s Missionary Union Training School, Louisville, KY, and a member of Alpha Delta Kappa Teacher Sorority. She was a career first grade teacher at Konnoak Elementary School. She enjoyed church activities, knitting, cooking and hosting Chinese dinners. Cora was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, aunt and friend. She will be dearly missed. Cora May lived to serve Christ and honor Him.
She is survived by her three children, Helen Thurston of Clemmons, Chaplain Maj. Gen. Charles C. Baldwin and his wife, Anne of Charleston, SC, and Conrad C. Baldwin, Jr. of Kansas City, MO; seven grandchildren; twelve great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; a dear friend Susie Datka of Clemmons and many other dear friends.
A celebration of life will be held 2PM, Sunday, December 29th at Knollwood Baptist Church with Dr. Bob Sexton officiating. Private inurnment will be held at a later date at Salisbury National Cemetery.
