Donald Gray Petree

Donald Gray Petree, age 88, passed away in his home on September 13, 2015. Donald was born to William and Ruth Petree in Forsyth County, NC. He served time in the US Army. Donald played professional baseball for the Boston Red Sox. He went on to spend the next 40 years in the Dairy Business from which he retired. He will always be remembered as an avid outdoors man with a love for golfing, hunting, fishing, and his dogs.

He is preceded in death by his wife of 65 years, Bonnie Jean, and his brother, Bill Petree. Donald is survived by his children: Greg (Betty) Petree, Jerry (Beth) Petree, and Traci (Richard) Schweighart; 4 granddaughters: LeAnn, Crystal, April, and Cristy; 2 grandsons: Connor and Noah; 2 great-grandchildren: Zack and Avery; and his sister, Thelma Sink.

A Graveside Service will be held Saturday, September 19, 2015 at 2pm at Forsyth Memorial Park. Frank Vogler & Sons are handling the arrangements.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
