Ed was born on September 21, 1943 to the late John and Shirley Crawford in Baltimore, Maryland. He grew up in North Wilkesboro, NC. After high school, he began working for the FBI in Washington, DC where he met his wife, Patricia Wagoner Crawford. In 1969, Ed moved his family to Winston Salem to work as a system analyst for RJ Reynolds. He worked for RJR until his retirement.
He was always looking to help out in his community. Ed was the president of the local Jaycees' for several years. He coached many different youth sporting leagues and volunteered as an assistant athletic trainer for West Forsyth's football team.
Ed enjoyed NASCAR and NHRA, as well as fishing, but most of all Ed loved his family. His smile and mild manner will be missed by his wife, Patricia, and, sons, David (Karen) and John (Heather). He was blessed with three wonderful grandchildren, Paxton, Hayden, and Gaby. Ed also leaves behind his brother, Dr. John Kent Crawford(Beverly).
The celebration of life service will be held on Friday, April 12th at 11am at Frank Vogler & Sons Funeral Home in Clemmons. The family will receive friends for a visitation prior to the service at 10am. Burial will follow the service at Mountlawn Memorial Park in North Wilkesboro.
Ed was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made in his honor to his home church.
