

Franklin Joseph Mills, Jr., born March 20, 1962, passed away Thursday, November 5, 2013 after an extended battle with cancer. Franklin was born in West Germany while his father was stationed there with the Army. He was the oldest son of the late Franklin Joseph Mills and Patricia Hutchison Mills of Fort Pierce, Florida. He is survived by his wife Cynthia Mangum Mills and three children, Forrest Tyler Mills, Rachel Lauren Mills, and Tucker Ryan Mills. He is also survived by his two siblings, sister Latricia Mills Sutherland of North Richland Hills, Texas and brother Gregory Scott Mills of Weaverville, North Carolina. Franklin grew up in South Florida before joining the Submarine Corp. in the Navy, serving on the USS Ray. Following his six years of Navy experience, Franklin moved to North Carolina to pursue a diverse career in Information Technology. He was an avid Miami Dolphins fan and enjoyed all things having to do with the ocean. Closer to home, he loved to fish and was enthusiastic about cars. Day to day, Franklin’s focus was on his family, church, and friends. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, November 9, 2013 at 10:00a.m. at Twin City Bible Church in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. There will be at reception in the church Fellowship Hall following the service. In lieu of flowers, donations in Franklin’s memory can be made to the Comprehensive Cancer Center - Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center.
